Quick Book Review | Nyssa Glass and the Electric Heart

Standard

Nyssa Glass and the Electric Heart is the fifth book in the Nyssa Glass steampunk series. Fear not if you haven’t read the other books, it isn’t needed but I recommend that you do.

The wonderful dialogue and character interactions between Nyssa and Ellis does not diminish with the fifth book. Bonds are made stronger and the quippy quirks are still present.

Here’s a little story that happened to me while at the gym. I was on the treadmill and a friend of mine was on the bike. Once I started to read Nyssa Glass and the Electric Heart, I lost track of time and how far I was walking. After ten miles on the bike, my friend came over and asked me when I was going to stop. I simply told her that I was reading and that I was waiting for her to come over. Bottom line, even after eight hours of being on my feet at work, I was so lost in this book while on the treadmill, I forgot my surroundings. Next day, my legs hurt, but worth it.

Reformed cat burglar Nyssa Glass fled her home in New Taured after being framed for murder. Settled safely on foreign soil, her life finally seems back on track. However, fate soon throws another wrench in the clockwork. A determined detective tracks Nyssa down and threatens to drag her back for trial.

Nyssa’s desperate to shake off her past … or at least the aggressive lady detective. A mysterious note promises hidden evidence to finally prove her innocence, but she can’t tell anyone, even her beloved Ellis.

Surrounded by new enemies as well as nearly forgotten old friends, Nyssa must fight to keep her freedom and clear her name once and for all.

If you haven’t read the first book in this series, Nyssa Glass and the House of Mirrors is currently free on Amazon. House of Mirrors was my favorite in the series until Electric Heart. Or maybe they are tied. Regardless, a clean read with adventure and entertaining characters that will appeal to any age.
